So lately I've been getting into my building/creating mode of thinking and I've found Popsicle sticks a very economical way of doing what I've always wanted to do.  Build an overhead crane on my desk.  Also, I'm going to build a model home complete with garage and studio.  It's become quite an obsession of mine so I can't wait to finish it.

Also, I couldn't find a dA group for this sort of thing so created one.  #SeriousStickArt  I wanted to call it Serious Stick Creations, but dA has a 20 character limit on it's group names.  The focus of the group is to find like minded people who want to build scale model creations of already existing things or invent something awesome on their own.  Either way, I'd love for all the creations to be made voluntarily and not just because it was made for school.  Those can be entered too but if they didn't want to make it then it will be difficult for some to receive praise for their work unless they're just awesome people.

Anyway, I don't expect all of those who watch me to be "into" this sort of thing but hopefully I can inspire others to create something beautiful and share it.

I'd love to hear you're thoughts and ideas on this new obsession of mine.  What do you think?

P.S. - I will post more car shots when I can.  The late/slow spring makes for some rather boring pictures so I'll have to wait until it clears up and the leaves come back.

Welcome

Hello, my name is Joe. Photography is my passion and my hobby. I choose not to pursue a career in photography because I don’t feel I’m ready for that yet. But I feel that I have learned a great deal in the last six years, so I believe there’s no reason why I can’t help others while I improve my own skills.

I received my first digital camera back in 2004. Since then, I’ve learned a lot about photography and the art behind it. The hobby really picked up in 2008 when I bought my first camera with manual settings and a 1 gig memory card.

I shot a measly 16,000 images in the first four years, but within that time I learned the basics of photography. Later, I decided that I was ready for a DSLR camera. So I did the research and bought a camera that would turn my world upside down, a Canon Rebel XSi. It’s been a great tool for learning some of the more technical aspects of photography; like image composition, lighting and framing.

I may not be the most tactful person at giving advice, but I’d hate for anyone to drown in this sea of art. It’s impossible for anyone to teach six years worth of experience in just a single comment or note. So if piece needs a little bit of help, I offer my advice.

So basically what I’m saying is; I’m proud of my deviations, but I will never say I’m a professional. This is my hobby and I will continue to improve myself as long as the passion is there. When someone offers some constructive criticism, I try my best to take it in like anyone else. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. That’s why I love the deviantArt community and support that comes with being involved.

Thank you for visiting my page. I hope you enjoy what I have to offer.
